Deckology uses 12-inch-on-center joists, screw-fastened framing, mid-span blocking, joist tape, and PWT treated LVL beams on most projects.

However, careful inspection of the deck structure is critical as new surface boards cannot correct rotted posts, weak connections, split joists, sagging, or uneven framing that lurks underneath! At Deckology, we’ll ensure your deck is built with quality, for a deck that lasts.
Deckology reviews the existing structure before recommending a re-skin or complete replacement.
A sound, suitable decking frame may be reused when it provides a durable and sturdy base for the selected decking.
If or when it does not, a complete rebuild is necessary to avoid covering problems that will need attention later.

Marc Unnasch started Unnasch Construction in 2010 and launched Deckology in 2022 to focus on creating custom decks and outdoor living spaces. His broader construction background shapes how he approaches connecting outdoor spaces to the home, how water moves around the structure, and what may be uncovered when an existing deck comes apart.
Marc works with a small crew and stays involved throughout the project, from early design and material decisions through construction and the final details.
